Sometimes life just feels like a lot. Not because anything huge has happened, but because there are simply too many things competing for your attention at once.
The washing needs doing, the fridge needs filling, you’ve got messages you haven’t replied to, something needs sorting for school, you need to book that appointment and someone has just asked what’s for dinner.
And for some reason, that completely normal question feels like one question too many.
When you feel overwhelmed, it’s often difficult to explain what’s actually wrong because there isn’t one thing you can point to. It’s lots of little things, all quietly taking up space in your head.
Even when you’re sitting down, your brain often isn’t. You’re thinking about tomorrow, remembering something you forgot today or mentally adding another job to a list that already feels far too long.
Then comes the guilt. You wonder why you can’t just get on top of everything when everyone else seems to manage.
But the truth is, we rarely see the full version of anyone else’s life. We don’t see their washing pile, the messages they haven’t answered, the dinner they couldn’t be bothered to cook or the cupboard they absolutely do not want anybody to open.
And sometimes, the answer isn’t becoming more organised or finding a better routine.
Sometimes you just need some help.
We’re often very good at offering help to other people and terrible at asking for it ourselves. We wait until we’re completely exhausted before admitting that actually, we could do with another pair of hands.
But you don’t need to be at breaking point to ask.
It doesn’t have to be everything. Sometimes having just two or three things taken off your plate is enough to make everything else feel a little lighter.
That’s really why we created Jade & Jorge. Not because we think everyone needs someone to come in and organise their entire life, but because sometimes you just need someone to say, “What can I take off your list?”
So if you’re sitting there thinking “I feel so overwhelmed”, don’t immediately ask yourself how you can become better at doing everything.
Ask yourself something else instead:
What could I get some help with?
You don’t have to do it all yourself.
